I just reread Queen Lucia and conc!luded it would be perfectly possible too be besties with Emmeline Lucas. She’s an egoist and poseur but she only gets nasty if you threaten her image or her authority. Humour her little pretences and she purrs and is sweet as saccharine. And probably will be happy to loan you hats.
