This adaption of the Henry James novel stars Helena Bonham Carter in a darker, more complicated role than her earlier frock flicks, with stunning costumes by Sandy Powell. This is one of my all-time favourite movies, the other being the extended edition of the Lord of the Ring and other frock flicks. Besides the Goddess Sandy’s gorgeous clothes, the real star of it was Gustav Klimt’s paintings. SNORT ROTFI. I preferred Milly over Kate bc felt she was intrinsically kinder. Lord Mark’s county seat sorta resembles Blenheim in a few scenes. Did they film there?
