  1. Oh that had to be frustrating. It’s the end of the week, and the one year mark on a crazy year. Give yourself grace. Also, I love Annie Lennox. Thanks for reminding me of this video!

  2. How is it I’d never seen this video? It’s like Jane Eyre if she’d run off to Italy with Mr. Rochester, and succumbed to the inevitable regrets! Odd sudden jump forward to Edwardian fashion; how are these two characters connected?

    1. Knowing Annie, there’s probably a massive backstory with both characters. The one in the Victorian dress is probably the younger version of the one in the Edwardian dress, older and wiser and alone in her aesthetically tragic life…

      God, I love her.

      1. I love Annie Lennox Music video because of this fact: “back”!!👍🏻 She is one of only 80s stars that almost always had “mini movie” music videos that portrayed a story that matched the song lyrics. Kate Bush was another one😍👌🏻.
And Duran Duran (though totally different) also did something with their video storylines ✌🏻.

        1. Your comment reminded me of the Snark Week post the ladies did last year on Mylene Farmer, the 80’s French pop star. Her videos were off the rails. :)

    1. I can feel your frustration with regard to the reboot blog from 7 years ago, but Annie Lennox is a brill recovery. And I thought you were going to write ‘She’s Annie fu**king Lennox that’s why the bonnet doesn’t look derpy. But wasn’t there a video with a red gown with Glenn Close Dangerous Liaison vibe to it, too?

      1. That for Walking on Broken Glass – and it has John Malkovich and Hugh Laurie! I love that video.

      2. Yes!! It’s the Annie Lenox song: ‘Walking on Broken Glass’. That was loosely “based on” ‘Dangerous Liaisons’…Annie was wearing a red towel in her head. And they even had John Malkovich (with a awful goatee & makeup mix) and re-used some of the costumes from the original movie. Frock Flicks wrote a biting funny Snarkweek post about thar particular Annie Lennox music video. ✌🏻

  3. The second picture has some serious ‘Wings of the Dove’ but GOTH vibes.

The secret to looking chic in a bonnet is to have the right shape of face. I have a face shape that suits most hat styles except pillbox hats; I look like a tragic Victorian heroine in a bonnet :D Also, get a really, really great bonnet!

    1. Had the exact same thought. Maybe because the music video was also shot in Venice, Italy 🤔?!✌🏻

  4. Five hours-long exams in five days. My brain is ash. Should I survive the month, I will happily nerd at the lot of you regarding jewelry.

    1. Woaw Lorraine, that must have been an infuriating experience. I wonder though how many “new” Frock Flickers would have noticed if you had posted the “copied” post. At least it would have shown you stick to your academic knowledge & beliefs. BUT I think is admirable that you did not, and in doing so held yourself to a higher standard.
Plus almost any Annie Lenox “mini movie” music video is costumer’s fever dream (or “nightmare”…I’m looking at you: the “Walking on Broken Glass” music video. 🧐😆).
Just this week I went down a rabbithole, on YouTube, watching Annie Lennox music videos. I still love them all. My favourite is the Wuthering Heights vibe I still get from the 80s “Here Comes the Rain Again” music video. 😍👌🏻

  5. Even the inimitable Annie Lennox hikes her skirts. For some reason that makes me feel better.

  6. OMG!!! This post made me mad because….why wasn’t this video ever released in the US when Diva was out?!?!?! I became an Annie Lennox fan when that album came out, and I have NO recollection of this video! Cold was one of the greatest songs on that album, and I think/quote this line from that song all the time, “Dying is easy, it’s living that scares me to death.” I had to bust out my DVD “The Annie Lennox Collection” to see if the Cold video was there; it was. So, thanks for the throwback–Annie Lennox is ALWAYS and STILL awesome!!!!!! Also, I’m team #WalkingOnBrokenGlassWasAnAwesomeIfCuckooMusicVideo :) Plus, Annie Lennox is one of those people who would look good in a burlap sack.

Answering your questions: My week–not good. Good books–Eh, so-so books: I’m listening to the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery series by Vicki Delany. It’s a passable cozy mystery series. Didn’t watch WandaVision–I’m only a casual fan of the MCU, and I can’t work up the energy to watch ALL those movies in order to be caught up. My TV: Disappointed in season 2 of A Discovery of Witches and totally loving The Royals (which aired on E! a few years ago); it’s the first trashy TV show I’ve ever gotten into.
