What do Steve Wozniak, Back to the Future, William Shatner, and Frock Flicks all have in common? We’re all part of the inaugural Silicon Valley Comic Con!
Taking place in San Jose from March 18 through 20, 2016, this new convention celebrates geekitude in many forms, including our own little brand of poking fun at historical costume movies. At least for a one-hour presentation, heh.
If you’re in town, we’d love to see you — our panel is currently scheduled for Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 2:00pm (though check the schedule at the door for any changes). Look for:
The Good, Bad, & Ugly of Historical Costume in Movies & TV
Movies & TV can be the first place we fall in love with historical costume — Scarlett O’Hara’s sweeping ball gowns, Elizabeth Bennet’s proper white dresses, Queen Elizabeth’s fabulous ruffs! The big (and little) screen can transport us back in time, when the costumes are done right. Alas, the costumes are just as often done wrong. That’s why the Frock Flicks blog and podcast was born, and the creators will share why you shouldn’t use costume dramas as documentation for historically accurate cosplay (but we still love watching these films anyway!).
For complete details about Silicon Valley Comic Con, check out the con’s website. Hope to see you there!
I hope it’s less of a ripoff than most professionally run cons. Enjoy yourselves.
I hope you all have a lot of fun. Look forward to hearing all about it.
Sweet. Please, oh please post the audio of the panel if you are aloud!
allowed!
We’ll try!
I sadly had other commitments that weekend that kept me away. (I literally live only four tram stops away.) Next year!!
