During the first Snark Week, you voted on your least favorite movie or TV show, and we then did a live video streaming podcast of us watching your choice (Reign, I’m still bitter). This time, we’re doing something different! We want you to play too, so we need you to VOTE on which bad historical costume movie to watch, then JOIN us this Sunday, January 24, at 1pm PST (4pm EST) at this link to watch that movie and snark along by live chat!
We’re going to be using a service called Watch2Gether, which lets us all watch the same movie from YouTube or other free video site and host a dedicated chat room at the same time. The upside is we can all watch the same movie, on the same timing, for free, and the snark can flow freely; the down side is we may not have a great quality video to watch (but hey, that’ll be part of the charm). After the live event is over, we’ll post a recap to the blog with screencaps and the best snark written by all of us!
We here at Frock Flicks have narrowed down the choices to three, all of which have been snarked in this week’s posts:
Option 1: The Lady and the Highwayman (1989)
A TV movie starring Hugh Grant and based on a Barbara Cartland romance novel. Decent 17th-century costumes, crappy 1980s makeup, and horrrrrrrible mullet hair on Grant. Read more about it in our Hugh Grant post!
Option 2: North and South (1985) – episode 1
A TV miniseries starring Patrick Swayze about the American Civil War. Cleavage-baring acetate gowns, peach frosted lipstick, and Swayze in a feathered mullet — but probably also some tedious battle scenes to slog through. Read more about it in our Shitty ’80s TV Movies post!
Option 3: The Wild Women of Chastity Gulch (1982)
Prostitutes and female doctors in Civil War Missouri, starring Joan Collins and Teri from Three’s Company. Poly baroque satin and nylon lace, boobs everywhere, and enough makeup to paint the North American continent hot pink. Read more about it in our Shitty ’80s TV Movies post!
Vote now, and join us at this link on Sunday at 1pm PST (4pm EST) to watch and snark along!
We’ll be calling the winner an hour before the SnarkAlong begins, so make sure to vote by 12pm PST (9pm EST) on Sunday.
