  1. I think he actually shaved his hair for Anna Karenina, I remember seeing him on the Graham Norton show with a terrible hat on — I think he was in the middle of filming and he didn’t want to be seen with it in public.

Also FYI in Grand Budapest his character of young writer is narrating the story in flashback. It’s like a story within a story. It starts out with Tom Wilkinson as the writer as an older man, remembering when he visited the Grand Budapest where he hears the story from Mr. Mustafa who is now old and played by F. Murray Abraham. One of my favorites.

  2. It’s Joseph Fiennes in “Enemy at the Gates”, Ralph’s beautiful little brother.

  3. The King Arthur movie, such a disappointment… Vortigern is tyrannical enough without the need of adding magic, thank you! And the elephants? The mention of the vikings? The absence of Guinevere, Morgan or Morgause? The absence of any kind of explanation about Mage’s identity? She could be Guinevere, she could be Morgan, maybe Nimue… Who knows? We Really need a new King Arthur movie, but not this, NOT THIS!

    1. The King Arthur Legend of the Sword was directed by Guy Ritchie (Madonna’s ex) and it’s got his fingerprints all over it, he’s known for that style. I thought of the Mage as a beneficial Morgan LeFay, and Maggie as Guinevere. We DO need a new King Arthur film that isn’t, as Kendra says, a boy testosterone movie.

  4. Excellent news about a new Sherlock movie, but we have to wait two years? (!) And Jude is blonde enough for me, so thank you. :-)

        1. Yes. Yes they can. Never have gone for the bad boys. Who needs the drama? Jude was tragically adorable in Cold Mountain. Love his Watson, and looking forward to FBandHTFT in a couple of months.

  5. I’m totally on board for him playing young Dumbledore. He has a terrific voice, too. Like melted vanilla.

King Arthur… that movie was one giant WTF??? for me. I still don’t know what was going on.

    1. Am still trying to absorb the idea of Dumbledore as young and hot.

Does anyone else think J.L. should have played Tom Ripley and Matt Damon his supposed doppelganger? The idea of Jude Law’s metamorphosing from Tom Ripley to Dickie Greenleaf makes far more sense to me.

  6. The movie Cold Mountain was ruined for me by a teacher who didn’t cover the book well. Didn’t help that I was a history buff even then and he had no patience for me pointing out the inaccuracies.

  7. What a great round up! Now I have more movies on my “to watch” list. However, what about Jude Law in the ‘1940s does Futuristic Sci-Fi’ movie “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow”? He was the perfect pairing (irony intended) to the feisty girl reporter played by Gwyneth Paltrow. Love a man in a leather bomber jacket…<3
